| A-1E/AD-5 SkyraiderPlastic Model Kit by Revell Germany One of the most powerful combat aircraft ever was the A-1 Skyraider that was flown for the first time in 1945. By 1956, 3180 had been built - mainly single seaters. The AD-5 with its wide two-seat cockpit, longer fuselage and larger tail unit, is generally reputed to be the best Skyraider. It was used in Vietnam by the US Navy and USAF for close support and rescue operations. The Wright R-3350 radial engine delivered 2700 hp and a top speed of 320mph. Known affectionately as the "Wart Hog" by its pilots, it's a large single seat aircraft, identified by a pair of TF-34-100A high bypass fan jet engines mounted high near the rear of the twin tailed fuselage.
